Other Free Stories From Colin M. Drysdale

***This short story is now available in an anthology called Zombies Can't Swim And Other Tales Of the Undead by Colin M. Drysdale. This is available in paperback or as a Kindle ebook. For more information on this anthology, click here.***

On this page you will find short stories written by Colin M. Drysdale that are neither set in the world of his debut novel For Those In Peril On The Sea nor feature traditional zombies. Instead, they are just other short stories he has written that do not fall into these categories and there is no over arching theme to them. Some are post-apocalyptic in nature while others are just stories about snippets of modern life.  New stories will be added as and when they become available. They are provided as PDFs which can be viewed using many ebook readers or using the free Adobe Acrobat Reader. You can also view these stories, as well as receiving any additional stories when they're posted, either by clicking here or via the RSS feed at http://cmdrysdale.wordpress.com/category/short-stories/feed/.

1. When The Comet Came (2,185 words): This is a short story written to celebrate the fact that in 2013, two comets will pass close to the sun and should become visible even to the naked eye. These are Comets PANSTARRS and ISON. There will undoubtedly be many out there who will take these as a sign that the world will come to an end. This story is a dystopian, post-apocalyptic tale based around a comet passing close to Earth that can be interpreted as a critique on modern life in the western world as well as a critique of those who are continually predicting the end of the world. As pointed out at the beginning of this story, they'll probably be as surprised as the rest of us if it actually happened. Click here to download it.

2. The Creature (1,628 words): This is a short story about a lost sailor in a life raft far from shore who is pursued by an unseen creature from the depth below. Click here to download it.
